HAIR

With the hair beast I started to do some more hair beauty stuff. I learned in this shoot that working with hair is NOT easy much less retouch hair. I have worked with retouching hair for a while but it is not an easi task. I still havent been able to master it that well. all i can do is keep working on it. I worked with these girls who were super sweet we put everything on them. This is a lifestyle shoot I did the other day I didn't think I can pull off lifestyle since what I normally like to do is editorial. I managed to make it a little editorial but still staying with the essence of the beach and having fun in the beach without making it sexy. I worked with some great people for the first time like Jennifer Gilbert (stylist) who brought some crazy colorful items from Nordstrom and other stores perfect for the beach this summer. This is the beautiful Hilda who had to leave early but still gave me amazing shots. I had worked with her before but this was a different side of Hilda I hadn't seen. Fitness peeps

I started to do some fitness work with some of my model friends and i have been able to come up with these. These were obvisouly taken in the studio with the several lights to highlight the body and the muscles. I like shooting men with a higher light source in order to bring more defintion to the muscles. In this case I didnt do it like that but more like a simple side source or very centered.

This is Fabio really cool guy friend of a photographer friend of mine and we pumped him up a little too after in the post production. I know he is going to kill me but in this world we pump up everybody.

i have been testing for new beauty and wanting to update my website I started working on these new ones. I got to work with Mary and she has done an incredible job with these girls. I have changed a little of my lighting and retouching and will be going back to what I used to do

This is Leticia and she is from Next models. She was super nice to work with. We worked super hard to get her hair to look like this and we had to end up bringing in several photos like the ones above to give her more hair. Then we did something a little different with a goth look and it worked out awesome!!

Miami Living Spring Issue 2009 - Fashion Issue

well like i promised i have been behind on my posts but I am putting something that starting the new year happened. I was notified by Matthew from Miami Living magazine that i got the cover for their spring summer issue. It was pretty cool so i figured i would post on here how the shoot went. I had a great team backing me up not the usual which was strange for me but i still felt confortable working with these guys it was awesome!

This was the shot where we see Rebekah as the power driven diva with her toy men...hahah

This was a fun shoot since I also invited my friend Ana Acuna from church to come along. This was the first time she experienced a fashion shoot and i think she had a good time...i think. The funny thing that happened was that later we got stuck in the elevator and didnt have a key to get out it was one of those scary momements. My cell didnt work either and we couldnt get out it was freaky and funny at the same time. We just had a great time even though it was probably the longest editorial shoot I have ever done.

The beauty and grandeur of the life the other half lives. I am fascinated by the way people react when others, who are different or just higher than them in the social ladder, are around them. I dont know why everyone just goes crazy for them its almost an untouchable sensation or feeling that we experience when we are around the rich and famous. We just need to remember that they crap just like us and all those butterflies in the stomach are instantly gone. They are people.

One of the best ways to travel is by car. Well at least to my taste, there is nothing special than the pain in your neck you get when sleeping in the back seat while driving at night to an unspecified destination. The only difference that this time we have a specific destination, Tennessee. As a family we have done trips like these for a while now and even though there are times you want to open the passenger door and jump out, it is still a great time. Well for starters my mom is hooked on her new CD player with music only she can try to sing. Every now and then she says some lyrics out of beat and nods her head to some kind of rhythm only she knows but looks funny for the rest of us. My dad on the other hand is always on business, I pulled my laptop to write and he did it to make calls to his drivers. After spending the whole night screaming at my mom for not knowing the roads, he pulls out his laptop to help his drivers get around everywhere else in the US, explain that to me. Sometimes it’s harder working with family I guess. It’s funny though, on my left is my sister and boy is she weird too. She is “sleeping” but manages to have beating rock music coming out of her iPod into her ears. If you turn it off for her to sleep she wakes up demanding that we turn it back on, again explain that to me. Well I slept and when I opened my eyes I see “Entering South Carolina,” which is always a good sign and the Hobo Joe’s advertising, along with the South of the Border ads, which I would have done differently. It is still a great experience because in the end this is how a family comes together and stays together. Today we are celebrating 27 years my parents have been married. It is times like these that you wonder, why aren’t they going alone? But it’s ok, this is why I see how family stays together, something very different from other groups. I hope when I do have a family of my own I can do these things and that my kids enjoy being part of it. My next trip is Vegas so we will see if everything is true about Vegas.

Alejandra Alberti is this type of girl that can go under your skin but in a good way. She is very charismatic at the same time sweet and timid. In this shoot we were able to take out that charismatic and fun girl that she is, I can speak for the whole team when I say that we had a great time making these images and you can tell by the the final image with the whole group.
This is shot inside a bathroom with this amazing looking wallpaper. I am a fan of vintage or at least the past. There is something about being part of the past its a pretty cool feeling knowing that someone had a different life from yours in this same living space. I think we managed to accomplish that here in this picture.

water stuff

Well i started working more with water...i like it but i still get scared around the equipment and the models splashing like the end of the world or if they are in the middle of the ocean. They were just in my pool i dont know what they were screaming and splashing about. Well they were great and now i have a new fascination---->WATER!
I did some with this glass and it looks cool kinda, I had a great time!

In the august issue of vogue, there were several stories expressing the desire of people to dress age appropriate. On the cover was actress Winona Ryder who at the age of 35 is still kicking and screaming into the yellow brick road to success. Like her there were other women chosen for this issue and they all symbolized women who were on top of their game and dressed the part. What do I say to women or men who are dressing the part go for it! Enjoy it and don't think so much about the age. I know someone very close to my family who is 89 years old and acts and lives life like she was 24. Gladys is a woman who doesn't put much emphasis on the number but instead is constantly traveling and taught me to do the same. I dont know why women are so caught up with this issue, us guys don't worry so much about it then again we live life without that stress. So don't worry about age!

Departure

The definition that always brings people sadness and a bitter-sweet taste of leaving something behind is the best way to take what we learned. Along with the welcome of something new and exciting that can create a world of colors outside our own. Well here we are, with the memory of something left and the expiration of something old expecting the new. In the airport waiting for our delayed flight, what else is there to do but look at the fashion selections of some of my fellow travelers. And in our multitalented world, watch the Gucci spring women’s runway. In an island like the Bahamas, there are no sign of Gucci, with reds and purples that can create a world of fruit and tropical flair; it just does not exist. What a world of separation along with the connections of the colors that can only be used in the set reality we are all part of. Some may argue that colors exist in out imagination and can be created. I fail to believe this to be true, our imagination can only manipulate the colors already existing not create since we lack the right and ability to do so. So far away Gucci and Bahamas beach flair are connected in color and pattern. Both live out in the minds of the manipulators (designers and artists) when they depart of such angelic destinations. There I see the metal plates known to be present this season in the Gucci bags and dresses, found in the scanning machines used by the Bahamas customs. The reds and purples are present in a little girl’s carrier bag and a mother’s over used sweater. Do we really depart or do we steal the colors and patterns around us. It is this bitter sweet taste that can be brought with us wherever we travel.

Welcome to my blog! Well i thought it would be a great way to open my blog in one of the best places in the world with the best beaches....well to my knowledge at the time. For reasons that are always the best to have, but not the best to share. I am having a great time, its just sad that i will be leaving tomorrow, in the afternoon. I will be staying here until 4 pm which means I have plenty of time to get lost driving on the left side of the roads and meeting more locals. I have had a great time shooting and not shooting the local and not so local folk. It is one of the best ways to spend a time in a foreign country, shooting people. To most it is not the best way to maintain a connection with them, to me it is. It is a place where i do not miss my Miami. I don't want to return, I want to stay here until i die. maybe it's because it reminds me of the life I once had, or a life I will have. It is for sure not the life I am leading now. I am in a room with flip flops, and board shorts with an oversize Hugo Boss shirt that I was afraid to bring to the island, but at the same time this careless spirit of the island propels me to forget that care for fashion, and focus on my Adidas flip flops. Another care of mine has been the return to the taste of mango. One of the best fruits ever created by God. It is the sweet taste of the fruit that reminds me of my childhood, which consisted of the same attire and climate. A sweeter adventure cannot be the remembrance of my childhood but the creation of memories of my little cousin, Sofia, trying mango for the first time. This first post is dedicated to her, my Bahama mama, isn't she cute?
